Activate Twitter SMS for your mobile phones:

How to enable twitter sms for mobile:
If you do not already have a twitter account,you can sign up for it here. Before you can enable twitter sms for your phone, you need to add your phone number to your profile on twitter.
To do this, log in to your twitter, locate and click on the drop-down button at the top of the page. Then go to settings==> Mobile . Here you’ll be able to enter your desired phone number. However you may need to verify the mobile number.
You can as well customize how you wish to receive messages via mobile on twitter. The image below shows a snapshot of how twitter allows you to choose your preferred method of receiving messages.
From the image above, you can choose to receive tweets from people you’ve enabled for mobile notifications. You can enable mobile or sms notification from people you like. You can do this by going to the person’s twitter profile and then hover on the small drop-down icon below the person’s image and then click on turn on mobile notifications. You can also decide to receive direct messages as sms into your mobile phone by checking the appropriate button for it.
During sleep hours, you can decide to turn off mobile/sms twitter notifications to avoid disturbing your sleep.
If you need the twitter mobile app for iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Iphone or Windows Phone 7 phone, you can download the free twitter app by going to Settings==>Mobile==>Mobile apps on your twitter account, you will find the link to download your free twitter mobile app.
With these settings in place, you’ll be sure to receive sms or mobile alerts whenever any activity occurs on your twitter account.
Activate Email notifications for your twitter account:
Another way you can receive twitter notifications apart from that sent to your mobile phones as sms is by e-mail. You can opt in to receive important twitter notifications about your account just like you’ve did for twitter sms notifications.
To enable email notifications for your twitter account, select the drop-down icon at the top of your profile, go to Settings==>Email notifications.
From the above image, you will be able to see that twitter allows you to select when and how to receive twitter email notifications.
After these settings, whenever any changes occurs in your twitter account, you’ll get both a twitter email notification and also a twitter sms notification for mobile devices almost instantly.
